FPS or Grand Strategy?

Which do you prefer?

(And please don't move this to Games, it's not a game and I won't be able to see it if you do.)

Okay, this should be in Video Gaming. I can see that one.

Real time strategy is my genre of choice, especially the command & conquer series.

I got over FPS with the original Doom. I haven't looked at the RTS games much, but I did like Ages of Empire.

Tiberian sun is available free from the EA site at the moment, as is the original game, neither are bad, but both are very dated, red alert 2 is the most fun of the lot, although c&c3 and ra3 are both worth the money.

I only liked the first Red Alert game. It's one of the games I've spent most time with in my life. The graphics were too good/cheery in the newer games

I dabble in both, but with the strategy games I usually just play the solo levels and don't do the online stuff, because I can't dedicate the kind of time it takes to compete with those teenagers who play them 16 hours a day.

FPS all the way.

I put a deposit on Killzone 3 today. Yer woman behind the counter grabbed a copy from a press behind her and scanned it in. They already have the game, dammit! I want it now! America already has it. Why are they making me wait 'til Friday?

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

turn based strategy preferably but I'm not averse to real time
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.
