I like both.
Civ 5 and Bad Company 2 at the moment, I haven't driven a chopper though since the Desert Combat mod for BF1942. They were a real bitch at first but once the bugs were ironed out and you got used to it you could be a terror. For some reason I haven't got the hang of it in the later editions.

As for strategy I wonder if anyone ever played this series;

Sure it's a little dated now but I like coming back to it, I tend to take a while playing a scenario [which is one reason I never multiplay RTSs, I'm too much of a turtle :( ]

I played Total Annihilation a lot when I was younger, then Supreme Commander.
In SupCom the ability to simply zoom out from close up battles, to give orders over the entire map is just :tat:

But I still play on http://www.quakelive.com occasionally if I want a frantic FPS buzz.

The first two games that really stuck with me, which I still play today are Unreal Tournament and Total Annihilation.

I've never been quite as keen on any of the newer renditions of UT, nor on Supreme Commander, TA's spiritual successor.

I don't think I prefer either genre, though. Right now, my most played fps is probably CS:S, TF2 and the Half Life series, while most of my recent strategy gaming has been in the form of Command and Conquer. CnC4, Tiberian Twilight was a real disaster though, in my opinion :fp: I started on CnC with Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge, I still play those more than most of the other titles. Generals, I thought was a nice twist on CnC, but most things after Westwood got raped by EA were sub par and generic.

Half Life is something I've drifted into later than most, I expect. I recently picked up the big Valve Collection pack on Steam for about 50 notes with all of their games in it.

I think sandbox is probably my favourite genre right now, provided there's enough to do there and it's rewarding to explore. I've loved the GTA series from the very start, although I think GTA IV is a bit of a strange one, there's no doubt that it's a great game, but it needs more of that crazy freedom GTA: SA had. More recently, I'm playing through Just Cause 2 now and I've yet to get bored of exploding government buildings  Also, Mousy is big on Red Dead Redemption, which I can't play because I don't have a 360, but I've often watched her play, and it makes me wish I could :P

I'm also big on RPGs, I can't remember which the first I ever played was, but I've got Borderlands, both Knights of the Old Republic games, TES: Oblivion, Dragon Age: Origins, both Mass Effect games, the whole Fallout series, the whole STALKER series, Neverwinter Nights 2, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Mount and Blade, Deus Ex and I've only ever completed the two Star Wars games :awesome:

Turn based strategy, coz my reactions are too sluggish for anything real time. I wish life was turn-based...

I miss Moraffs revenge and Moraffs world. They were from Moraffware, I think.

Total War for me, I really like it.
I don't speak English well, so sorry for my probably errors. I'm learning it, so, if you want, correct me.

I've recently heard about a strategy game called Warband, which I'm anxious to try because it's been described to me as "the only game to ever do mounted combat right" - apparently it takes velocity into consideration for a cavalry charge, rather than just having a symbol shaped like a horse standing still. Downloaded the demo, but haven't had the chance to mess with it yet.
Who needs a signature anyway?

You mean Mount and Blade: Warband?

I've played the first game and it does have a very interesting combat physics engine. Not just for horseback, either. If you're fighting on foot with a sword, you'll cause more damage to an opponent with a side cut if you run by them as they do it, drawing the weapon through them as you cut. There are also blunt weapons, like maces. The first one was just a massive sandbox RPG with no objectives at all. You just had free reign to do whatever you decided in a dynamic world where warring factions knacked each other in an entirely different way each time.

The most fun part of the game was that modding was heavily encouraged and so easily done that it was quick and easy to change or create something. Brilliant title. And all made by a couple from Turkey.

I lost over 200 hours of my life to that game - not bad for something I only paid a fiver for. :crusade:
