Discworld MUD

Post by normal » Thu Nov 18, 2010 8:33 am

I spent 8 hours yesterday playing the Discworld MUD.

I used to play it for hours and hours back in the day. (2001-2004?)

Anyone else done any mudding?

This thread sure got off to a great start. I love how many replies it's gotten. Since starting the thread I've advanced to level 83 in the Weapon Masters' Court, and both my parry skill and sword skill are over 300 in bonus!

I think it also provides you with the answer you seek. No-one is playing it but you.

I always got lost in that one Ankh Morpork is not friendly to newcomers. Elephant MUD was the one I spent far too much of my life on
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Code: Select all

// Replaces with spaces the braces in cases where braces in places cause stasis
   $str = str_replace(array("\{","\}")," ",$str);

I had no idea there was a game :dunno:
I'm getting Great A'Tuin tattooed on the top of my head, by the way :?
Did our Twoflower get her name from the Discworld character, I wonder? I just started reading The Colour of Magic, and there's a Twoflower in it :ask:
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Yep, that's where she has it from. It's also where Paco got his Curious Squid name.

So you have actually tried it? Hahaha. There are maps of all the cities, so you shouldn't get lost these days =)
