I'm glad Wilkins followed through on Pratchett's wishes. I've been carefully rationing my consumption of his work, and may feel differently about this once I've read his entire opus, but don't think I will.

Small Gods is my favourite. I bought that one about 20 times for people. Less than half of them finish it though. One can but try I suppose.

I've never read a Pratchett book.

Neither have I, and now I'm intimidated by the corpus, I don't know if I should read all in order, or try to read thematic sets (the city guard, DEATH, or others)

I haven't read enough of it, what I have read was so much fun.

He seems to be what Douglas Adams was to sci-fi to fantasy.

That was a quote on the book covers, but to be frank, I think that Pratchett is so much better than Adams that I consider this to be an insult.

The Discworld books don't have to be read in any specific order, except for the ones with Tiffany.Svartalf wrote:Neither have I, and now I'm intimidated by the corpus, I don't know if I should read all in order, or try to read thematic sets (the city guard, DEATH, or others)
If you want to start with something, I would suggest the Nomen trilogy.

I guess those involving Dreath's daughter would also have to be read in order, no? I know, when I saw the xmas movie about the Hogfather she seemed to have a lot of background behind her...

You can read them in order. But it is not really necessary in my opinion.

For a lot of them it's not really important which order you read them in, but if any that you read from the same group you do follow in order, it might make more sense in places. I'd recommend starting with Mort, Guards Guards! and Small Gods, and see where you want to go from there.
I'm going to have to read them all again soon.
