British Gas And The Swiftly-Resolved Query...

Post by Clinton Huxley » Tue Mar 19, 2013 1:56 pm

This is as close to the fiction section as I could find and I would have believed what has just occurred to be nothing more than fiction, had it not happened to me....

"Hello, British Gas"
"Good Afternoon. I would like to query an invoice you have sent me"
"Do you have the invoice number?"
"Yes,it's 12345678"
"Thank you.......ah, that's an error. You don't need to pay anything. Your account balance is at zero. Can I help with anything else?"
"What?!? You mean, you aren't going to put me on hold? Transfer me to a call centre in Uzbekistan? Force me to pay the invoice by putting a rottweiler in my underpants? I don't understand?!? Have I got the wrong number?!?! Stop being helpful, it's NOT BRITISH!!!!"
"Have a nice day, sir"

I need to go and lie down and ponder the ramifications of this.
"I grow old … I grow old …
I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled"

AND MERRY XMAS TO ONE AND All!

Where will it all end?!? We can't go about having people be professional and useful. Britain didn't get where it is today by having people know how to do things!

Good grief, we appear to have been taken over by the Germans while nobody was looking!

I have fibre optic internet being fitted on Thursday (true btw!). They even told me what time they would turn up! I don't have to stay in all day waiting and then receive a phone call at 4.00 saying they are coming next Wednesday week!

We had better contact the ambassador!

I will keep my fingers crossed that the engineer's van crashes into a pile of life-sized carved wooden ducks and the replacement van turns up but installs broadband at the wrong address.....I'm too old to learn German....

On the contrary, I had been complaining to Glasgow council for months regarding the roads and the refuse collection. It finally took threats of civil disobedience during next years Commonwealth Games for them to get moving and they did so within hours.

They're obviously hiding something.

Well we can all stand down relieved that our legendary service systems here in the UK are as crap as ever. Broadband installation on hold. They were supposed to email or phone with a conformation date for today. I just phoned them and because I didn't get one they assumed the date they gave me was off.

Well done that customer service guy!
