I just read Pattern Recognition by William Gibson... and it leaves me astonished.
First, it's not a SF novel, but a contemporary espionage one... very unlike everything else I know by him.
Second, it reminds me strongly in both flavour and style of Generation X, Microserfs or Shampoo Planet by that other Canadian author, Douglas Coupland.
I wonder if one would be a pen name or ghost writer for the other.
