That's why you should always have some old-school paper books around.

Oh, and download Calibre. It's a program that converts any other ebook file formats to the kindle standard .mobi. Essential if you intend acquiring books through... less obvious routes... :tea:
I downloaded that yesterday as it happens. It messes up the formatting from .pdf though. I heard you can tinker with settings to fix it but... Could you be arsed?
Yeah, it can really fuck up PDFs - mainly cos they tend to come in a lot of different layouts - but it does a pretty good job with EPUB files.
What settings do you use? I can't get anything but crap. epub --> pdf

One of the nice things about my new netbook. My old Acer Aspire would last 2-3 hours on a charge, which would get me through one lecture or book club. But if I forgot to plug it in before I went to bed, it wouldn't last more than 30 minutes into the next session before dying. This Asus boasts 50% more batteries and 3-4 times the battery life.

This applies to the nook color so your mileage may vary. If you're not using wifi, turn it off; wifi is the biggest drain on the battery. On the nook, if it isn't hooked to the charger, it's still on, even though it's not on-on, so it uses battery charge while it sits; there's a separate switch for turning the hardware completely off to preserve battery.

Bought a cheap no-name ebook reader from kmart. 8-)

Proceeded to download shitloads of ebooks.

I've found that soulseek is an excellent source of ebooks of which you need to not have to convert them. :tut: Bittorrent is *okay* but you tend to get twats that have it in PDF which is slow as all fuckery on the ebook reader. :x

On mine, if it froze, you held the off switch in the off position for 15 seconds and that would do a re-set. Don't know if that works on all Kindles.

You can't argue with that for customer service, really. Of course, they don't want any interruption to your book buying...
