I've hit a reading wall..

Post by Elessarina » Fri Apr 30, 2010 10:08 am

just one of those times when you get out of the habit of reading and don't seem to be able to pick anything up. I have tonnes of books to read but can never decide what i want so end up reading nothing and now i'm annoying myself..

I love reading and miss it ... does anyone have a good recommendation of something to get me back into it?

I like all kinds of fiction - thrillers, crime, I don't mind the odd Jodi Picoult book

What you need is some George McDonald Fraser.....

I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled"

AND MERRY XMAS TO ONE AND All!

INCA GOLD by Clive Cussler

About the book:

When a tsunami hit a Spanish treasure galleon, all trace of a golden hoard greater than that of any pharaohs vanished into history, Unit NUMA agent Dirk Pitt dives into an ancient sacrificial pool far into the Andien jungle in order to rescue two archaeologists, and plunges into a vortex of corruption, betrayal and death. A sinister crime syndicate has traced the long-lost treasure--worth almost a billion dollars--from the Andes to the banks of a hidden underground river flowing beneath a Mexican desert. Nothing will stop their ruthless and murderous drive to recover the gold. Nothing, that is, until Pitt and his team place themselves square in the path of danger.....

Have you got around to reading it? If you are finding it difficult to get interested in a book this one grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go!

I'd recommend anything by Andrey Kurkov. Easily my favourite living author!

Death and the Penguin
Penguin Lost
The Case of the General's Thumb
A Matter of Death and Life

All fantastic and fairly short novels. Funny, a bit dark, very interesting writing style and very readable too (IMO).

Paco's met the guy too.

Nope. Just looked it up and it looks interesting. I'm going into town later (day off here) and will pop into Waterstones and take a look. Thanks for the tip!

It's a fantastic book. First couple of chapters take a bit of getting into but then you won't put it down. Let me know what you think.

Are you OK? Do you need a lift to the hospital?
