Seconding XC and Audley's P.K. Dick recommendations. Man in the High Tower and A Scanner Darkly are probably my two favorite SciFi books.

On another note, it confused me for a few seconds why you didn't like San Francisco and why you would ask a board full of brits to help you out in that regard :hehe:

Have you read every single Anne McCaffrey too many times, young lady? :toetap: If not, get on it.

Never read her as they never sounded interesting to me. I'm kinda fickle that way, I guess. :ask:

Read the first one, Dragonflight. Very strong female leads for obvious reasons in all her books. I would recommend them to any young lady starting to read sci-fi.

Might I suggest the soon-to-be-(self) published short stories Percy Gets Probed and And The Last Word Is Cheese. :awesomecat:
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

SF is crap. Start with the tv friendly stuff.

Said Peter...what you're requesting just isn't my bag
Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state
Our case for survival before it's too late

Turn stone to bread, said Daemon Duncetan
Turn stone to bread right away...

Bella, have you read "Friday" by Heinlein? How you like that one (and why) would help a lot in trying to give suitable recommendations.
"The internet is made of people. People matter. This includes you. Stop trying to sell everything about yourself to everyone. Don’t just hammer away and repeat and talk at people—talk TO people. It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." - Maureen J
