I have a Finnish approved translation of the Kalevala to read. It is a bit tedious to read in the original as it is in Karelian dialec of the 1700s and 1800s. But I did read both versions for a few lines. The word billow was always confusing to me. Something to do with water and waves I knew. It seems to mean....waves. Something of a bigger wave. But also an undulating mass of...something.

If you look at the Hugo and other prizes recently that should be no surprise at all.
Andre Norton wrote a whole library of work decades ago,
So did Lois McMaster Bujold’s Vorkosigan series and other series of hers.
N. K. Jemisin won the Hugo Award in 2016, 2017, and 2018 for each book in her Broken Earth trilogy a rare triple.
