My bet is Empire Strikes back. incontrovertible best of the 6 Lucas films.

I think The Force Awakens is the best one. I don't think the old ones are that great when you look at them now. Especially Return of the Jedi. What a silly pile of shite made to sell toys to kids.

:dunno:

Seeing the new one tomorrow.

ESB was an Irvin Kershner film with a screenplay by Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan. That was probably why.

I think the originals have stood the test of time remarkably well, but then I prefer practical special effects over digital. In terms of storytelling there's simply no comparison - the originals have a genetic development that follows the traditional arc of the hero's journey while in TFA shit just happens. People are just heroes.

It's true that RotJ is the weakest of the original trilogy, but it still stands head and shoulders above The Force Awakens in my books. TFA is about on par with the prequels - if you averaged them out.

Yep, it's the best because lucas did not put his greasy mitts on it, that guy seems to have an incredible gift for turning gold to shite

I don't even count the prequels when talking about Star Wars.

Ah ok, he didn't. I thought I remembered seeing his name in the credits. Must have been TFA.

Didn't get to see this the last day 'cause the queue was out the door and I was like, hell no.

Going to see at 17:30 today.

It was half-decent.

Enjoyed Donnie Yen, like I knew I would, but
Trigger Warning!!!1! :
that red light-sabre protruding out of the darkness to reveal the ominous figure of Darth Vader sent chills down my spine. Then he totally slaughtered those guys.

Holy Christ what a shit film. Started out well enough, really capturing the feel of the very first Star Wars. Very quickly, though, got stupid and, worse, BORING. :yoda:
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.
