Loved it.
The first Star Wars film put me off watching any of its sequels. Your take on the most recent one makes me wonder if I should have a look at it. From what I read it is still essentially an action movie, which puts me off. Will I miss out on much by not knowing what went on in its predecessors?
It stands alone and I would think anyone new to the SW 'universe' could enjoy it. Choosing my words carefully here so as not to spoilerize, but there are a couple of very unexpected 'guest appearances' which refer back to earlier episodes, which you would not get if new to the movies. It is an action movie though, despite the element of character development involved. A good old enjoyable romp but not really brain food.

After having been conned into wasting valuable time and good money to see phantom menace and attack of the clowns, I decided I'd boycott lucass, and I doubly boycott anything committed by disney.

It was good, not without its failings, but good enough that I'll see it again. I'd rank it third after Empire and A New Hope; tied with Return of the Jedi. When it comes to the uselessness of Stormtroopers in the series it has to take top marks, though. I lost count of how many of those inept clowns were mown down with apparent ease while inflicting little to no damage themselves. Honestly, how is there even an empire with soldiers like that?

Thanks again. I'll give it a miss.

I read one reviewer describe that thing as "nostalgia over common sense".

My daughter is going to see it on Friday. A couple of years ago we would have gone together, but she doesn't need me now she's got a boyfriend (spit).

I'm happy to wait and see it on telly next Christmas.
