(Spoiler alert)

OK, well I didn't enjoy it. It was well made and the first supposedly 'adult' super hero movie. However it wasn't really. It was a kids' movie with the violence and gore turned up to 11 (bizarrely though a couple of shots of tits covered up by phoney camera angles). The plot was pretty original I suppose, but just when you didn't want super hero set pieces to happen - they did. Plus several of the miner character were really clumsily drawn - a blind woman who drops stuff and bumps into furniture, an Asian taxi driver complete with Indian sub-continent accent..oh - a British baddy of course.

Some of this was done knowingly with a wink at the audience - talking of which the fourth wall is broken pretty consistently to the point of annoyance in fact. But some of it was just lazy and crude.

Above all I think the lead character had no saving graces at all that I could see.

It was accurate up to near the end of the movie when they showed a globular earth. Everyone knows the earth is flat.

It was all a conspiracy anyway. It was all shot on a studio set. No Mars landing at all!

We watched The Lobster last night. Great indie film with surreal humour throughout.

Just watched Spotlight about how The Boston Globe blew the lid on the Catholic Church and the whole paedophile thing and the cover up in the Boston area. The parallels with Ireland are so staggering I was surprised Ireland wasn't mentioned once, even in passing, everyone in the movie, set in 2001, seemed surprised at what the Church were up to.
My other criticism is I didn't see why it needed to be a Hollywood movie, could easily have been a TV movie, it was very functional.
Other than that an accurate portrayal from what I can make out.

Saw Civil War. Flipping brilliant. Spiderman was the best.

I haven't seen it yet. Will have to wait til it's out on DVD and available at the library. I didn't go to the theatre to see it because (aside from a lack of funds) I've no idea who Deadpool is. He's a character created long after I stopped reading comics so I have no emotional or nostalgic (or nerdalgic) investment in. Also, the fact that he breaks the 4th wall routinely and is a character who tries really hard to be funny and a smart-ass...leads me to believe he won't actually be funny (in a Tank Girl sort of way). What may work well on the page doesn't necessarily work on the screen.
Having said that, I've never even watched the trailer. I suppose I should. Also, up until recently, I knew nothing about Ryan Reynolds except that he was Green Lantern. In other words, no one to get excited about. And yet I just watched him in The Voices and he was fantastic. So I'll certainly give this Deadpool film a go at some point, though I'm not expecting much. Perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised. And then again perhaps not.

It's not out here yet

This Spider-Man, from the very little I've seen of him in the trailer, looks the closest to to the comicbook we've ever seen, the most visually faithful. Maybe personality-wise as well, but too soon for me to say.
You know what we've never seen in an on-screen Spider-Man costume yet? Those little underarm webs. Maybe once he hits puberty they grow :ask:
