Some things in movies get done wrong. Mostly, I think, things that we have a solid image of before we see them on the screen. The disappointment factor is high on those, so high that when something comes along is is done right it's just that much more impressive.
An example of "what's done right" is the balrog from "The Fellowship of the Ring." It met my every expectation and exceeded them. They just couldn't do it wrong or the entire series would have flopped, and they knew it.
