Saw Dune 2 with the kid just now. Wasn't that enamoured with it, but I enjoyed the ending and am looking forward to the next one.

Was conflicted as to which was better ...enjoyed both tho tho the express train worms were a bit much

Stumbled on this

The new Triumph 400s literally out of the crate riding insanely high passes in N India. 19k feet+ - tough on bikes and tough on riders.

Bikes seem durable if a bit on the small side.

Now they are travelling with a support vehicle. Putting in dangerous hours tho. I'm engaged
Wow higher than Everest Base Camp

This looks good too

I finished season 1 of 3 body problem anyway. It’s got a lot of really fun stories and possibilities at this point. I look forward to seeing what they pursue. —still think the nano fiber bit was nonsense…

That's one spectacular bit of CG that in theory is accurate

There's a fair bit of nonsense in the show. I'm happy to suspend disbelief.

I thought the terminal illness strand was handled really well. I also found it quite refreshing that the conflict (and resolution) between characters was mostly driven by their honesty about their feelings, rather than the usual boring soap opera nonsense of characters inexplicably not saying stuff to each other for no reason other than 'because plot'.

Ah after emotionally wallowing in Out of Africa now The English Patient comes up on Netflix.

Just incredible cast.
and well deserved awards
The English Patient, British-American film, released in 1996, that won glowing reviews and nine Academy Awards, including that for best picture. It also won four BAFTA Awards, including best picture, as well as the Golden Globe Award for best drama.

Yeah. The entanglement bit took a little work to gulp down.

The science is pretty sound for the series but then entanglement "spooky action at a distance" bugged Einstein too ( and me ).
Since we are actually working with it now
Physicists from the Austrian Academy of Sciences have succeeded for the first time in entangling photons over 248 kilometers of optical fiber. For quantum communication, this is a new long-distance record and a significant step on the way to the quantum internet. Previously, the maximum distance was 100 kilometers.16 Dec 2022
I don't think as challenging as actally making large scale nanofibers but wow that was spectacular bit of CGi.

It is the only way to explain the FTL comms. Implies that the ftl entangled anchor had to have been launched to earth vicinity centuries ago. Clever conceit.

Again, feasibility isn’t a problem for me. Honestly, I don’t even think about it.

In my opinion the writer(s) just dropped the ball there. It was senseless given what we “know” about the characters and story up to that point. I do think the tech will be redeemed later when a more fitting use upsets some other alien plan…or not, they can take it anywhere.
