The Harry Potter films might all make it to the theaters while Radcliff still has a full head of hair. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417741/

Yeah, the books bore the shit out of me... well, I only read the first one and I found it infantile and patronising.

The films are great though.

I enjoyed reading them. (Okay, Brenda ordered me to read the first one, but we had fun with them after that. Had to buy two of the last ones to avoid conflicts.)

I enjoyed Harry Potter when I was 11 and reading the first books. However, Rowling's attempt to mature the books along with the readers failed dismally, and I find the movies unbearably annoying and the books slightly tolerable and incredibly overrated. Especially when she tried to make the characters more relevant by inserting cliched teenage angst and relationship problems with no bearing to the story or with any plausibility. Fuck off, Rowling. Lloyd Alexander remains the undisputed master of the children's book.

Read about 40 pages of the first one and got bored. I'm probably not the target market but even for books to read to the kids, there's better. Like The Famous Five. Or the Phone Book.

Now, if someone produced a stop-motion animation version of the books with the characters all played by bottles of the sauce.... now that I'd watch.
