In film and/or television that moved you?

From Fail-Safe. A very powerful film... the end always has me in tears.

Iconic scenes from movies

Post by The Curious Squid » Mon Apr 13, 2009 11:30 pm

Inspired by Billy Bainbridge's cold dead eyes I thought I would start a thread with some of the scenes in movies that leave me in goosbumps no matter how many times i see them.

First up, Quint's Indianapolis speech, the description of the shark's eyes rolling back in it's head is fucking brilliant

The dialogue Morpheous comes out with when he's trying to get Neo to realise his potential is one that stands out for me too.

I'll finish my ones off with this bit from Predator when Mac has just lost his best mate, the image of him with his back to the camera laying waste to the forest with the minigun stays in my head for days after I watch it.

Can't find a clip for it on youtube but the entire Shebulba sequence at the end of The Fountain is the most visually impressive thing I've ever seen, unfortunately it loses appeal if you don't see it in the cinema though I would imagine that Blu-ray would make it better, there was almost no CGI used for the backgrounds which were actually images of different liquids mixing with water in pitrie dishes.

If anyone hasn't seen this film then they're missing out.

I saw it when I was about 15 and I liked it but, that doesn't mean I'd like it now. I mean, my favourite film back then was Robin Hood; Prince of Thieves and that's utter crap when I watch it now.

I wasn't too impressed by the rest of the film though. That start scene reminds me of Ghost in the Shell an awful lot too

I'd argue that this bit in the Animatrix is also pretty fucking good as far as anime fights go

One of the best scenes from my favourite film ever.

I've reported the OP and asked for this thread to be merged with another one from last month:
