I was worried it wasn't really age appropriate. A few parts startled them, but that's it. We will probably be watching that one again at home!Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Yeah, good kids movie. Just finished watching that too. Very nicely done.Coito ergo sum wrote:The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
Very well done.

I have heard criticism that it was overlong and too slow but I was completely immersed and could easily have gone on to watch parts 2 and 3 straight after. I can't think of a single story-point that was missed (a huge criticism of LOTR) and most of the stuff that was added definitely added something. Of course, a lot of the action scenes broke one law of physics after another! But you kind of expect that these days, don't you?

So when does the next one come out?

2 comes out in December and 3 the following July. 18 months start to finish, better than the two years we waited for all three LOTRs.Xamonas Chegwé wrote:Just finished watching that too. Very nicely done.Coito ergo sum wrote:The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Well, if anything; it's amazing what you can do with a thousand dollar budget.

Seconded. While incorporating many conventional elements of the genre, the characterisation, virtuoso cinematography and the recurring counterpoint between corporate and criminal America raised this well above the ordinary. On the DVD, the director notes that he was pointing up the mundanity and drudgery of criminality, together with the ennui and reluctance of the protagonists to exert themselves any more than absolutely necessary.FBM wrote:Killing Them Softly.![]()

Premium Rush weren't bad. His predicting future routes and which one wouldn't get him in an accident was a bit stupid though.

Special, a dark superhero comedy/drama/tragedy starring Michael Rapaport. Wow I really liked this one. Low budget but very well done, and I think the low budget lends itself to the movie's realism.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.

Defendor. Another superhero movie, starring Woody Harrelson. Was good. I liked.
Interview With the Vampire. Tom Cruise's best role.
