It was a good last episode. It just wasn't a great last episode. Although, I can't help but think that a far darker ending would be needed to achieve that - something that the audience might find too hard to take. A nod towards the ratings and future series, I suppose. Resolution was needed for that. And hope... of a sort.

But the series as a whole was one of the best TV shows I have seen in years. I would recommend it to anyone. 10/10. But maybe just not quite enough to make 11/10.

I've already watched every episode, bar the last two so far, three times.. :)

I'm wondering what's coming next. As far as I understand it, that's the end for Rust and Marty. There'll be new characters next series, I believe. But I've been wondering why it is set in 2012. Does that give them time to set new series between then and 2015+? And will the new characters fit into the same setting? Can't wait to see what they do next time.

I'm sure everyone was expecting a darker ending. It was a pretty dark show after all.

The gf and I were convinced that at least one of them, if not both would die. Either Rust would die the predictable hero's death thereby ending his own misery, or Marty would die, ironically leaving Rust to trudge on through life's emptiness.

We were actually shocked to see them both survive.

Yeah, that and I was expecting someone closer to them to be guilty. I think the way it ended leaves the possibility that there will be another season. They said something about not having caught nearly all of the perps, etc.
