Saw Argo last weekend. Excellent movie, lots of suspense even if you know how the story ends.
I've done a lot of research on the Iran hostage crisis, so it was a real treat to see this story on film.

50th anniversary Bond - and well crafted. 92% on RT - very immersive in iMax. Some campy moments in the mayhem. New director for the franchise Sam Mendes brings his own vision and Craig is certainly vying for best Bond ever. Long movie that movies along quickly.

It's on our list. Maybe this Friday, or the next. I wasn't thrilled with Casino Royale for some reason, and still haven't watched Quantum of Solace.

We watched Iron Sky the other night. It's absolutely ridiculous and therefore worth a watch.

Very true! Non-Americans might not spot the Sarah Palin clone as president, or the mistake in the campaign posters. But we all love a good Nazi movie. :cheer:

Oh the Sarah Palin clone was obvious and very funny, as was the rip off of that Downfall scene and the bits about Chaplin.

The 2018 campaign poster is wrong, it should be 2016 or 2020. 2018 is an off-year election, so maybe it's a pun.

I've actually never finished the opening sequence. It seems to me they're just trying too hard. From what I've seen of Skyfall, more of the same. (Rooftop motocross? Really?)

THE DUST BOWL
Premieres November 18 and 19, 2012
8:00–10:00 p.m. ET on PBS
THE DUST BOWL chronicles the worst man-made ecological disaster in American history, in which the frenzied wheat boom of the "Great Plow-Up," followed by a decade-long drought during the 1930s nearly swept away the breadbasket of the nation. Vivid interviews with twenty-six survivors of those hard times, combined with dramatic photographs and seldom seen movie footage, bring to life stories of incredible human suffering and equally incredible human perseverance. It is also a morality tale about our relationship to the land that sustains us—a lesson we ignore at our peril.

Mind bending ....looking forward to Part II tonight on PBS

Skyfall was quite good. Not exactly a typical Bond movie though.
Trigger Warning!!!1! :
The bad guy wasn't really out to start a war or or take over the world or anything. He was already a powerful nutcase with his own small army of nameless mercenaries, but the basic plot involved him obsessively trying to get revenge on M.

I want to see SkyFall, but it takes ages for it to get to this small town. The fucking Twilight movie was released on the same day as everywhere else in North America. Go figure. :toetap:

There are no new plots. There are only old plots with new faces.
