Just getting through this now. Needs to pick up a bit. Bit hit and miss, Walking Dead. It looks like one of those series that will just keep going as long as enough people watch it, with no resolution.

Strictly Come Dancing. It's Lady H's favourite. Makes me want to vomit up my own brain.

I stopped watching it at some point in season 2. Bad acting and bad script. They spent all their money on zombie fx.

Just started watching a couple of new series: -

The Flash. 7/10 based on the first episode. Very straight-bat comic book. No real surprises but it sticks well to the original comics, albeit updated. Obviously, the pilot has to cram in all of the "origin" story, so it may improve. Not great but entertaining enough to keep watching for a while.

Constantine. 8/10 based on the first episode. Much darker. People die. Lots of people. And there's plenty of dark comedy, blood, gore and demon effluvia. The very best thing about this is that there is no Keanu Reeves anywhere near it! A proper British actor playing John Constantine (OK, he's Welsh, but it's close enough!) Could be a goodun.

I am also going to start watching season 1 of Arrow - never my favourite comic character but the series has had good reviews, so I'll give it a shot.

Watched another season of Boardwalk Empire. Awesome.

Watched another season of House. Wearing thin. Too repetitive, and House is too unsympathetic a character. In order for me to give a shit about him I need to know that somewhere, deep down, he's at least somewhat of a good person. But he comes across as nothing more than an asshole, inside and out.

Watched the third season of Sherlock. Awesome.

Started to watch the first season of Elementary (the U.S.'s answer to Sherlock). Couldn't even make it through the first episode. Lucy Liu is strikingly beautiful but she lacks Martin Freeman's charisma. It doesn't help that the writers don't give her much to do except stand around listening to Sherlock's rants. And speaking of the writers, they don't seem to understand the whole logic thing. For instance, Sherlock deduces that Liu's Watson is a former surgeon based solely on her soft hands and scent of beeswax (which doctors apparently commonly use to keep their hands soft). That's it. Hands softened by beeswax = surgeon :ddpan: And as for Sherlock, he's annoying as fuck. The actor (no idea who he is and don't care to know) lacks Cumberbatch's charm. And so his Sherlock is not charmingly or endearingly annoying. He's just annoying.

I really enjoy Elementary. I haven't watched the British one yet. Cumbersnatch annoys me.

I'll keep watching and give it a chance. I've got nothing better to do.
I was never a fan of Bendedick Cuminersnatch but he totally won me over as Sherlock. And I particularly like Martin Freeman as Watson.

Nope. Can't do it. Watched a few episodes and that's as much as I can take. Both the writing and acting are awful. The writers who write this show aren't smart enough to write a show like this. And the actors can't even do a simple thing like take a sip from a coffee cup in a convincing fashion. If you pretend to take a small sip from a supposedly full coffee cup, you might not want to tip it all the way back :ddpan:

They always do that with coffee on TV. Now that you've spotted it, you'll see it everywhere! The Mentalist is terrible for it. Sipping alleged tea from tiny china cups that are CLEARLY FUCKING EMPTY!!1!! :lay:

I am not sure if it is an Health and Safety thing (ie. keeping production companies being sued by wealthy thespians for scalding themselves with hot beverages), a bladder thing (avoiding endless toilet breaks after 40 takes of a scene where the actor sips coffee), or just a case of it being a lot easier continuity-wise. But it's fucking annoying and it happens on just about every show! There is never anything in a coffee cup unless the plot calls for spillage! :nono:

Just watched "An Honest Liar", a documentary about James Randi. Fascinating stuff. If anyone is UK-based (or can fake it), it is available on the BBC iPlayer - under the Storyville banner.

Watched Breaking Bad. Library hasn't had the first season but I've watched all the rest. Great show. Wish I could see Walt from the start, though, as it's difficult for me to sympathise with his character. I'm assuming he wasn't always a lying, manipulative douchbag. The character that really impressed me was Jesse. He goes through a tremendous transformation throughout the series, more so, I think, than Walt. And the actor who plays him does an amazing job. I also love the lawyer character, Saul. Looking to the spin-off series, Better Call Saul.

Started watching Luther, starring Black Heimdall. England is again awash with genius serial murderers, and it's genius detective Black Heimdall to the rescue. Unlike Sherlock Holmes, who makes deductions based on a variety of clues, however, Black Heimdall pulls things directly out of his ass. He doesn't need clues. A single suspicion suffices, from which he magically extrapolates an entire character profile (which of course turns out to be precisely correct). *yawn*

I'm watching the swelling curves of the young female teacher on the other side of the staffroom.
Nurse, where the fuck's my cardigan?
And my gin!
