I saw The Avengers last night. Superhero movies aren't normally my thing - I was out with friends and the birthday guy is a movie geek - but this was good fun. A special effects bonanza, some good laughs, and a ridiculously cheesy plot. I'm sure it'll do very well.

It already has done very well. It broke all box office records.

Great scenes. The Hulk-Thor interaction cracked me up.

Ayaan liked it too. We've seen it twice already.
And don't bother with the 3D version unless it's the only one that you can make.

I just got back from seeing The Avengers and loved it too. I especially enjoyed Tony Stark and Dr. Banner. Definately the very best Banner I've ever seen, and they did an excellent job of making the Hulk recognizable as being him. Very, very well done, and I plan to see it again soon.

Mission Impissible: Ghost Protocol. I've mentioned this in the wrong thread.

I liked the fact that Banner wasn't a wuss. Edward Norton(?) was a wimp, perhaps for contrast, but the new guy (name?) looks like a guy who would be even more Hulkish when he let "the other guy" out.
Also, saw "Dark Shadows". No reason to not wait for it to hit Pirate's Bay.

This movie looks interesting, but just to be clear ... I don't know what Pirate's Bay is, and there are a couple of negatives here, so at the risk of looking like an idiot, are you saying its a good movie? I've heard reviews from fans of the old tv show who didn't care for the movie, but I HATED the old show, so I'm game. What do you think? Thanks.

It's a tribute to the old show, with plenty of gags thrown in for the original viewers, who are mostly in their seventies now, I think. Pirate's Bay is where people go to download stuff without paying for it. That would be my recommendation for this one, don't pay for it. But do watch it sometime, cable or whatever, there are some good spots, they're just not that frequent.

To be fair, Ayaan may have enjoyed it more than me. She was a fan of the original show. (When she was about 9 years old.

Went to see Salmon Fishing in Yemen tonight. Lovely warm feel good movie. A love story too, but you walk out of the cinema feeling you want to do something like salmon fishing in the Yemen! Not for people whose idea of good cinema is nonstop action.
Go see if you get a chance.
