Here goes my tintin review.

The treatment of the film was wonderful the cgi hit the spot and made them realistic AND portrayed them in a way that wasn't disimilar to the books. I was sceptical of spielberg squishing two books together but really most of it was the secret of the unicorn and at the end leading on to red rackham's treasure. The movie was very true to the spirit of the books and how the characters are portrayed but as with most movies took liberties with the books.Mystery and intrigue of tintin books where cut out in some bits in favour of the slapstick and action in tintin books but as my mum said "what do you expect its a spielberg film adam?".

The general storyline was respected and you can tell spielberg is a fan of the books because its every bit as detailed. In short it was a great film a good way to spend 2 hours if your a fan of the books you wont be disappointed and if you have never picked up the books you'll enjoy it too i know that my mum and sister enjoy it throughly.

Hopefully this encourages more people to pick up tintin books all of them are excellent.

Nobody's seen the new Sherlock yet? They appear to have gone for the explosions in this one.

Kill List.

See this.

I saw an advertisement for Kill List the other day just out on DVD. I don't even think it made the cinema here despite rave reviews.

But no Torrent :(

EDIT: Yes there is, must just have came in

No shit, I was thinking of you when I recommended it. What was the title of that freaking freaky movie you turned me on to? Willem Dafoe, clitoris-snipping, etc?

Right!! Fucking hell, now that's a movie. My gf loved it, even though she spent about half of the last 45 minutes with her head buried in my shoulder. They don't make stuff like that in Korea.

I honestly don't know what to make of this. It's like Mike Leigh gone wrong. The acting has that naturalistic, ad lib feel. But it's dark. Oh so dark. It's also ominous and forboding. The whole film has that feel that something bad is hanging the air.
On the face of it it's a hitman movie. Usual story of a couple of hitmen going for that one last job to get some retirement but where it goes after that is completely off the charts and irrational. I'm not sure what I think. I liked the film but, why?

I rather enjoyed Masterpiece Theater's incarnation of Sherlock last year. Alas, they didn't feel it warranted further episodes.

For better or worse, half the detectives in television and movies are based on the Sherlock Holmes archetype. From D'Onofrio's Inspector Goren to Tony Shaloub's Monk. Apparently most modern incarnations choose to combine the abilities of the original Sherlock with the mold from the Greek tragedies in which a human flaw threatens to completely undo the character at every step. Inspector Goren is a maverick, and something of a social and departmental misfit, whose quirks always threaten his confidence in himself with the specter of his mother's schizophrenia always shadowing him. The mixture yields a more human, believable, and ultimately vulnerable character than the super human incarnations of either the original or that of Basil Rathbone. And I think, that ultimately makes them both more interesting, and heightens the drama, never knowing which will unravel first, the mystery, or the detective.

(ETA: It occurs to me that probably the highpoint of the Criminal Intent episodes starring Goren were those in which he squared off against Nicole Wallace, who always seemed one step ahead of Goren, had him wrapped around her finger and playing him like a toy, and always one was faced with the impression that Goren has found himself in the midst of a game that he quite likely will lose. Granted, D'Abo's subtle character portrayal and the figure of a demon so evil contributed to the popularity of those episodes, but so did the impression that it was an even match, and that there was no telling who would prevail. Give me that over Basil Rathbone's wooden Sherlock any day.)

Mention of "Apollo 18", aka "Blair Witch Project Goes to Moon", is not appropriate in this thread. :coffee:

The Skin I Live In. Antonio Banderas. Pretty twisted. Well worth the read.

In the context of "good movies", it's not appropriate. I would have been highly annoyed if I'd paid to see it. :bored:
