Monsters. Not many monsters for a film called Monsters, but good nonetheless. Got a little boring, though. Needed, I dunno, maybe some monsters to liven things up a bit. Haven't finished watching it yet but I probably will.

Sacha Baron Cohen's The Dictator. Some good silly fun. Wasn't sure I'd like it. I loved Borat but Bruno fell flat for me, so wasn't sure what to expect here. But it was enjoyable enough, if somewhat lightweight. Sadly I could not watch the unrated version.

I finished that Monsters movie. It was pretty decent. Kind of a ground's-eye view of what an alien invasion would be like. Story wasn't so much about the monsters/aliens but more about how the two main characters carry on in a post-invasion environment. They acted a little stupid in a couple spots near the end, annoyingly so. For instance, [SPOILERS] everyone in their party dies (except them) at one point because the two lead characters WOULDN'T SHUT THE FUCK UP and thereby gave away their position TO THE ATTACKING ALIEN MONSTERS. WHO, if I haven't made it clear, WERE FUCKING ATTACKING.
Still a worthwhile film, though. Just don't expect too many monsters. Oh, and the same director is doing the new Godzilla movie.

The director/writer did the special effects on his home pc. Which is phenomenal given the high quality.

The lead male character wasn't supposed to be in the movie. He was acting as a consultant to find an actual couple to play the two lead characters. In the end he drafted in his girlfriend and they played the main characters. His performance was incredible, IMO. And he's been recognised. He's been in a number of big hollywood movies since then, including Argo (which he was brilliant in).
