The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

Okay, they make a joke about "no trespassers", then the Dr. is arrested for trespassing. Is the rest of the writing like that?

Haven't watched it yet, the writing in Dr. Who since it's return has been very hit and miss, some truly wonderful stories mixed in amongst a lot of average ones and a few terrible ones. The writers seem to love weaving complex plots and creating situations from which our hero can't possibly escape often to realise that there is then only 10 minutes left in the episode for the miraculous victory of the good guys, needless to say a large amount of deus ex machina is liberally applied in those cases.
The good episodes are well worth watching the rest for though, Blink is one that has to be watched to see the potential of this series.

Some of the best episodes (Blink, the Empty Child, The Girl in the Fireplace, Silence in the Library) of the Doctor's latest incarnation were written by Steven Moffat, who takes over as head writer and exec producer when Russell T Davis steps down at the end of this year. I am looking forward to his take on the Doctor very much indeed.

Complete nerd that I am I had high hopes for Russell T. Davies seeing as he wrote Damaged Goods, one of the best Who novels and just fucking good nasty grimy science-fiction (deadly extraterrestrial technology infesting a shitty coucil estate):

Though he's done some good shows, he's had a big hand in some real stinkers too. I'm not too sure about Moffat to be honest, but Blink! was definitely a classic.
