What were you doing in church?
Hah.

Manchester Science Week. Was terribly informative. Chimpanzees emit 13 disticnt sounds, apparently.
I watch a docu. once that solemnly proclaimed that cats used exactly one sound, "meow", with humans. I doubted.
Yeah, but you've got to listen to the "meow" in context. Cats can pack a lot of data into a single "meow"....

Are you sure you weren't just sitting next to some football fans?
All the Humanzees were at Old Trafford....

I've been listening to cats for over half a century. They use a variety of sounds, not just meow. The docu. tried to state that meow was "me" and "ow", greeting and caution, combined. It this prattled on about how cats were acknowledging people and warning them at the same time. All I got out of it was that somebody had published a paper and was in love with it.

Sounds like the Aquatic Ape Hypothesis....

The Huxley cat certainly emits more than meows....

My cats talk to me all the time. (More so when they're on nip and I've been into the little bag, of course.) I've learned most of their signals, and they've learned one of mine, "NO!".

I'm not sure if I've seen them all, but I certainly liked the first one. It's also a film that holds up under repeated viewings, and doesn't seem dated to this day. I don't think it's just nostalgic fondness to say it's a fine film.
I recall the others in the series, the ones that I saw at least,as being not nearly as good as the first. Still, I wouldn't mind having that boxed set at all in my DVD collection. I think it'd be money well spent.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Just followed the link to amazon. Only thirty-five bucks for the whole set?! Holy shit, that's cheap as hell

Yes, the final scene in that movie is classic. And the number of porno movies that took off from the Planet of the Apes must be staggering. :hehe:
