Not keen that you said they changed the ending.
If you're a 'literalist' you won't like it. However, rather than look at it as 'the comic book as a movie' think of it more as a movie about the comic book.
It has to be different, or it wouldn't work the same on the big screen, but what they do have works. They've taken a lot of scenes straight from the comic, the dialogue, Rorschach's Journal entries and so forth.

I am not a total literalist. I understand that filming every frame in the book would lead to a 6 hour epic and that corners must be cut. However, I am concerned when the way that a story ends is tampered with as it then becomes another story entirely. I only hope they haven't given it a happy, Hollywood ending - I would puke!

btw. I heard that they will be releasing an animated "Black Freighter" DVD to coincide with the film - and a director's cut at a later date with the BF scenes merged into the main title - I can see I am going to be waiting a while to buy the DVD in that case!

I can PM you with the ending if you'd like. It's pretty similar.

It was great.
Never read the graphic novel but I loved every minute of it.
Dr. Manhatten is fucking superb.

Rorschach is better, n00b.

I dunno, he was very fucking entertaining but the whole idea of Dr. Manhatten gripped me from start to finish. I thought they were going to pussy out near the end and fuck his character arc but they played it perfectly.

Th ending is the best part for Dr. Manhatten.
"I think I'll ****** ****"
But Rorschach's character is more human than most, more real than any of the others.
Even Nite Owl who's supposed to be the text book super hero.

His speech about the stars when he arrives on Mars was outstanding. In fact, most of his dialogue was thought provoking in all the right ways.
You are kind of right though, it was Rorschach's movie.

I'll admit Rorscach is the big draw for me, the one I'm most curious about seeing how they've done him. I still remember the first time I read the comic, that opening journal entry "this city is afraid of me" - Fuck - that still sends shivers up my spine even now.

Then you'll love the opening of the movie.

Still waiting for the non-dubbed version to come out over here, Bloody Spanish love for dubbing
I only read the comic a couple of months ago as I´ve never been a huge comic fan, but I must say I was blown away. It´s a completely gripping read.
I believe I still have it on my hard disk if anyone would like to read it (for trial pre-purchasing reasons of course

)
At least I'm housebroken.

Just got back from the cinema.
One word.
FUCKING AWESOME!! (okay, two words)
I don't think there was anything I didn't like about the movie. I haven't read the book but Mr AA has and he loved it. I'm going out to buy the soundtrack tomorrow, too.
Just totally brilliant from start to finish.

Don't misunderestimate me. No, seriously, don't.
