Batman's story still hasn't ended yet within the comics, he can't make it finite after the third film with so many villains, robin and batgirl all missing.

I would imagine he could do what the hell he likes really, I would think the studio have given him carte blanche and given the realism that he has injected into the franchise his aim would be to bring it to a believable conclusion

This is a guy who dresses as a bat to fight crime. You can't complain about the car/bike thing being silly!

This may be the last Batman film Nolan directs but economics dictates it won't be the last Batman film. Maybe McG could direct Batman 4 Ever?

Don't mind the fan bois. I agree. Second one was dull and wouldn't fucking end.

Nolan has stated this film will end the story rather than allow it to continue

Nolan has also stood up against the studio and refused to make his film in 3D. I don't think Nolan would allow for someone to ruin his vision of Batman by continuing it.

Nolan doesn't "own" Batman. If this film makes a $1billion, there WILL be another. Different director, different cast, but sure as knight follows day, there will be another.

Glad it's not in 3D though, 3D is naff.

Oh maybe but it won't continue the story as we know it, it will be a new version of it.

Nolan says, "Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story. And in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story . . . I’m very excited about the end of the film, the conclusion, and what we’ve done with the characters. My brother has come up with some pretty exciting stuff. Unlike the comics, these things don’t go on forever in film and viewing it as a story with an end is useful. Viewing it as an ending, that sets you very much on the right track about the appropriate conclusion and the essence of what tale we’re telling. And it hearkens back to that priority of trying to find the reality in these fantastic stories. That’s what we do.” Nolan has also confirmed that Jonathan Nolan is writing the script and that the villain of the film “won't be Mr. Freeze.”[176]

I think they'll reboot Batman after Nolan's final film. It'll probably be a Batman that will fit in the world of the other DC Superheroes. Just Marvel is doing with their superheros.

Whiney fuckers like Batman and Spiderman never die. Too many people identify with them.

I'm eagerly awaiting Llama Man (for UK radio listeners of a certain age...)

Llama Man, Llama Man
He can do everything that a Llama can
He can bleat, he can trot
He's got everything that a Llama's got.

Two-Face was the best part of the Dark Knight.

Anyway, I'm putting my money on Bane as the villain for this next one.
