Picard is the awesomest captain ever. So authoritative, handsome, cool, smart, resourceful, intelligent, just, strong, caring, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Kirk was just a bumbling fool compared to Picard.

I also used to love Quantum Leap

TNG was fun. I wouldn't say I was an avid viewer, though. I do recall being rather surprised by Yar's death (and mode of). B5 held more appeal for me, when it came along a few years later.

No Kirk = no Picard.

Picard was king of the nerds, all the goody two shoes cunts brainwashed with Starfleet protocol. In fact he's even worse because like Kirk he was a swashbuckling player when he was young, but he let the system compromise him whereas Kirk would have been Maquis had he been round in the 24th century. Also, Kirk would have fucked Troi and we would never have heard of her again.

And Picard would never steal a starship then let it crash and burn.

Ah, the padeo "morale" officer.

To be honest, I don't know why they didn't just regenerate Ian Huntley - I would far rather he was in charge of cooking and morale for the next 75 years.

I don't actually mind Wesley Crusher.. I don't know why either him or Neelix are the objects of such hatred. Neelix is such a benign character and someone who sees the best in everyone - The episode in which he takes care of a logic-less Tuvok for example is quite touching, and I thought the way he treated Seven early on was also rather charming.

Seven: "You are Talaxian."
Neelix: "Guilty as charged."
Seven: "Species 218. Your biological and technological distinctiveness was added to our own."
Neelix: "I hadn't realized that."
Seven: "A small freighter. Containing a crew of thirty nine. Taken in the Dolmine sector. They were easily assimilated. Their dense musculature made them excellent drones."

Wil Wheaton's podcast "Memories of the Future" is actually pretty good - he reviews the Next Gen episodes and he himself rips into Wesley quite often!

Neelix isn't a paedo!

But counselor Troi is a totally redundant charachter, yes? I think she should have been left out, and they could have had a macho kind of action woman instead.
