Hmm, I'm trying to think of the most depressing film I've ever seen. Ratcatcher, maybe :ask:

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

If you've never seen Into the Wild I strongly recommend it. It's uplifting at first (to me anyway) and then makes me a sobbing mess.

Jolly good!
I thought Requiem was boring. What can I say? I'm jaded. Nothing affects me anymore :dono: But I'll give Into the Wild a try

What about the whole "THE LAWD WILL PROVIDE" that ran throughout the entire piece of drivel? That ending was supposed to be a vindication of that sentiment.

I didn't notice that. I thought nobody had any belief in god left. Then again, maybe Robert Duvall's character said something about God? My memory is hazy.
What I didn't like about the film was, first, it was kinda boring. Nothing much really happened. Every time I thought things were getting interesting, and something cool was gonna happen...the guy and his kid just moved on :ddpan: Second, the dialogue was kinda...I dunno. I coulda sorta guess what the characters were gonna say before they even said it. Third, the film on the whole seemed too lighthearted. It wasn't quite bleak enough. And finally, the kid was borderline annoying. Every time he started bawling, I thought, "Oh, Christ, here we fucking go again." And I'm a real sucker for melodrama, too. But this film left me somewhat cold. It just didn't make me care.
Also, I thought Viggo Whotsizname was supposed to give this, like, powerhouse performance or something? I mean, he was okay. But just okay, I thought. And Robert Duvall...same. What was the big deal :dono:

You people all suck. You're obviously not brainy enough to see this film's sheer brilliance and true genius.

Requiem ends with girl-on-girl, double-headed-dildo action! How can that be depressing? :dono:

Truthfully, I love the film - my favourite scene is mother on speed cleaning the house - fucking ace! If only they had fixed the fuck-up with the pupils it would be near perfect - heroin contracts pupils, not dilates them FFS! That repeated scene annoys me every time I see it. :nono:

It does end with ass to ass sex but it's the least joyous sex i've seen outside of a David Kronenberg movie, he makes sex look like the worst thing two people could ever do to each other.

I dunno. Crash had the hottest sex scenes I've ever seen in a film

Anyway, as for depressing films...Grave of the Fireflies just came in the mail. Will watch (and cry) tonight
