Re: What Are You Watching Now?
I'm watching Preacher. It's much better than I was ever expecting, and a lot of fun.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

The only one who could ever reach me was the son of a preacher man.

Ah Twister ( original ) is such a fine movie...really enjoyed that.
I think it is really the lead cast that notches the original Twisters up and we've lost two of them already plus Helen Hunt seems to have disappeared after a wonderful revival.
Philip Seymour Hoffman was such a powerhouse...what a tragic loss to cinema.
Tough act to follow as the CG was good enough at the time.

Twister is on Prime just now.
Hunt is a gorgeous woman.
pacing is great as is the music. Great mix of humour and drama.

Interesting that I can watch this complete film on Youtube without ads via Brave browser.

Good cast Ed Harris and Colin Farrell as leads.
This movie was inspired by the memoir of Slavomir Rawicz depicting his escape from a Siberian gulag and subsequent four thousand-mile walk to freedom in India. Incredibly popular, it sold over five hundred thousand copies, and is credited with inspiring many explorers.

Re: What Are You Watching Now?
I continue to watch episodes of Preacher. One of the main joys of the show is actress Ruth Negga. She's extraordinarily beautiful and just so damned good. So good, in fact, that I had no idea she was Irish! I just watched an interview with her on YouTube and was stunned to hear her natural speaking voice

Re: What Are You Watching Now?
$2.99 for no ads on Prime ...resisted for a while.
Glad I did the purchase tho….found a noisy ad in the middle of a good movie unacceptable. grrrr
Decided so see how good LOTR in 4k UHD HDR is ….
spectacular even tho I have the 4k DVDs the feed on Prime is very good.
The HDR in particular just perfect …damn 20 year old movie and still blows me away
Watching the shorter version whcih I thin is actually okay.
Finished Fellowship and really enjoyed it …have the Sennheisers on and the Samsung is doing a good job with the HDR/UHD
I wish all of the transfers were so good.
My only issue is my seating is 3.5m away or near field at 1.5m and needs to be something in between.
It certainly is still very specacular - the HDR even makes the dark sceens vivid without any wash out.
Not sure I’m up for 3 more hours tonight but given the sleep I’ve had maybe…
Nice to see the places we visited in New Zealand. What a spectacular country.

https://www.thenandnow.co/2024/04/26/ho ... %20history.Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, was reported to have claimed that, ‘AI is one of the most important things humanity is working on. It is more profound than, I dunno, electricity or fire’. We’ll see how that might well be true. It might change everything dizzyingly quickly – and like electricity and fire, we need to find ways of making sure that vast, consequential and truly unprecedented change can be used for good – for everyone – and not evil. So we’ll get to the future, but it’s important we start with the past.

Re: What Are You Watching Now?
Finished the LOTR cycle with the Return of the King in theatrical version rather than extended and using the Blue Ray 4k UHD disc.
I swear that cycle would bankrupt New Zealand if they had to make it today.
