Cinematography was great, acting was good, suspense was good. Brimming with tension. So what sucked about it?

I don't remember any suspense. Just predictable boredom. It was a distasteful revenge fantasy of the kind that make NRAs wet between the legs.

This critic put it best.
It's impossible to ignore that you are looking at unspeakable cruelty which, even if justifiable, must be ruinous to the soul of the wielder. You expect that to become the theme of the film, but, astonishingly, it never does.

Of course there was suspense, unless you knew where the kids were all along. And there was shitloads of tension, which I found refreshing in a movie. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. It seems you didn't even notice the excellent cinematography and good acting all around. Too busy getting your goat up about guns, eh? :coffee:

And of course it was ruinous to him. It was having a massive effect on him. Were you even watching the movie? Remember, the timeframe was less than a week. Hardly time for one to become totally "ruined".

Which anyone with a bit of sense would've.

You haven't even addressed my points. "Lol" doesn't cut it. You got cheesed off he was a prepper, and decided the movie was shit because of that. You probably hated Zero Dark Thirty solely because it was an advertisement for Team USA.

I don't care he was a prepper. I've nothing against preppers. In fact, I think they have the right idea. Nor have I anything against guns, in fact, if I lived in America, I would certainly own some.

I found the film boring and predictable. If you didn't figure it out early on I can only imagine you were so busy looking at the "gorgeous cinematography" you didn't even notice the sloppy and implausible script.

And to address the acting, it wasn't anything to write home about. And Jake Gygnhselgnswjnfzaljkrh -whatever - just walked around like an insipid dullard.

So, to reiterate, lol.

That was his (Jake's) character. I supposed you wanted a Bruce Willis Hollywood schtick.
Regarding the location of the children, sure, the Aunt was dodgy as fuck from the moment we saw her. But you've seen enough movies, surely, to know about the concept of plot misdirections and the like. It's easy to say you had it all worked out AFTER the fact, and when you're trying to sound like some sort of movie aficionado (even if you can't put it in words other than "lol").
So what was "sloppy and implausible" about the script? There are a couple of holes that are bothering me, but most movies have a couple of holes. I don't get hung up on that. The overall effect of the movie, the look (i.e. cinematography; ffs man, that's what the visual experience is about), the tension the acting are what get me. The story was entirely plausible, other than the cop never having back up of any sort.

And I bet you hated Zero Dark Thirty, didn't ya?! Own up to it. It's alright. Predictable pomo leftists are predictable. You're not alone in that department... :hehe:

I slipped some quick spoiler tags in there. Although, if Ani is to be believed, there's nothing to spoiler as you'll have the whole movie worked out within the first 15 minutes.

Also saw Hobbit 2. I like the barrel scene. That's about it. I like the LOTR movies so much more.

I've seen enough movies to know a double-bluff when I see one too.
rEvolutionist wrote: So what was "sloppy and implausible" about the script?
It's a few months since I've seen it and there's nothing compelling me to acquire and watch this rubbish again just so I can take notes and explain to you everything I found wrong with it. From what I remember, though, everything.

1. I'm not a leftist.
2. Zero Dark Thirty was the type of film leftists love because it shows up the horrors of war in a way that make the right feel uncomfortable (they just want to see the "good guys" being "good" and black 'n' white morals).
3. I didn't hate it or love it. I just thought it was ok. I guess that's because I'm a centralist.
