Sometimes when there are roles for nonwhite actors, they are still played by white people. Examples -- Yul Brynner playing a Siamese (now Thai) King. This is, of course, horrible white washing, just as when the Russian Yul Brynner played an Anglo-American gunslinger in the Magnificent Seven. A better thing would be for, in 1950s United States, for Rodgers and Hammerstein to have not done their musical until they found an accomplished Thai actor to play the King.

Al Pacino is shown playing Tony Montana, and apparently Cubans are now "non-white." LOL. Cubans aren't white? When did this happen? FFS, folks, being hispanic doesn't mean you're not white. You CAN be nonwhite, but it is in no way a given that a Cuban is non-white. Fidel Castro is fucking white.

And a white guy played the Prince of Persia, set in ancient Iran, which was populated by Caucasian people. If Persians aren't white, then neither are Italians or Spaniards. What the fuck is this video on about?

And, to make the scandal worse, Emma Stone played a "half" Asian, which, of course, if you're "half" Asian you have to played by someone who looks more Asian than non-Asian.

And, they portrayed Egyptians with white actors in Exodus Gods and Kings... Holy shit -- how dare they portray Egyptians as caucasian.... They're as "black" as a Sicilian.

But, in a very timely, and relevant, portrayal of modern Hollywood, John Oliver shows us that 53 years ago, in Breakfast at Tiffany's, before the 1960s civil rights movement got very much off the ground, Mickey Rooney played a caricature of a Chinese guy, and in the 1950s, John Wayne played Genghis Khan.

Yes, and how dare they have Tom Cruise portray a Last Samurai, which is based on the stories of certain western mercenaries who were involved in the westernization of Japan and China. They're doing the wrong story! A movie made for an audience in the US, which is about 80% of European decent shouldn't make movies set in Japan based on guys like Frenchman Jules Brunet who fought alongside Takeaki in the Boshin war..... that would be racist. "This guy -- this guy -- is the last samurai -- fuck you!" -- Um.... douchebag, Tom Cruise wasn't portraying a Japanese guy in that movie. He was an American soldier who ended up in Japan and fought alongside a Japanese samurai warlord at a time when the Samurai age was coming to an end and the modern age of Japan was beginning... that's the idea -- where a western soldier, sent to fight the old ways and usher in the new western ways -- winds up sympathizing with the old samurai ways and ends up fighting with the old school samurais and being rather upset at watching that old world die away...Man, they couldn't show anything better or more timely than that? Christ. Yes, yes, 60 years ago Yul Brynner and John Wayne played Saimese and Mongol kings! If they couldn't find actual Siamese and Mongol actors, in the 1950s, to play these big budge Hollywood roles, then they shouldn't have made the movies....oh, the huge manatee.

I see that Pharrell went foot nude on the red carpet this year. My gran always used to say that a man who forewent socks had no respect, but she was well crazy by then so we hit her with a shovel. Just goes to show eh?

A man without socks is like a woman without high heels...
Nurse, where the fuck's my cardigan?
And my gin!

Nobody would criticize a woman for not wearing socks. So, you know, sexism.

Don't women like a guy to keep his socks on, like a guy likes a woman to keep her high heels on?
