Yarp. We watched it last night and it was rubbish. The last few seasons were lacking, and gradually getting worse, but this season was mostly pretty good. There were a few problems with the story (like why the fuck didn't Hannah wear a wig and dress down), but mostly it was better than its been for 4 seasons or so.

It was pretty disappointing, but I would never compare it to the shitfest that was Lost's ending. They did pretty much what I expected, and that was okay, it was just all a bit anti-climactic, and I thought the stuff with his sister was just a bit silly.

I lost interest about four episodes ago. What happened at the end?

Trigger Warning!!!1! :
deb becomes brain dead from complications from a gunshot wound inflicted by the escaping brain surgeon, Oliver, whom Dexter had minutes before decided not to kill because showing mercy to killers has always worked out so well for Dexter in the past.

Dexter killed Oliver in the police lock up with a ball point pen. Dexter claims self defense and they let him go.

Dexter takes his boat up to the hospital deb is in (apparently hospitals in Miami have boat docks at their main entrance) goes in turns off Deb's life support and let's her die and then carries her body wrapped in a sheet to his boat all in broad daylight and no one even looking twice. Dexter then motors out to a perfectly calm sea just minutes before a category 3 hurricane makes landfall in Miami, dumps debs body and heads in to a very threatening looking CGI storm (perfectly flat seas though)

cut to buenos Aires where Hanna is reading the internet on her tablet and it shows a headline of that Dexter is presumed lost at sea. She and Harrison then go have ice cream. Meanwhile Dexter has become a lumberjack somewhere cold-looking.

No resolutions of any story lines are given.

No inkling why we had to endure the sub plot of Masukas daughter.

No resolution of the conflict between Quinn and the black cop for the seargent job.

No resolution for debs PI boss, he's left drugged on a bus.

No resolution for the death of dexter's protoge that Oliver killed.

No resolution for dexters step kids Astor and Cody.

Well, to be fair, the carrying her out in daylight happened during an evacuation with a ton of commotion. Still a little silly, but not quite as bad as it sounds.

I must have watched something else. I didn't recognize much of what Scott wrote.

Would you care to correct any of the inaccuracies?

I think the fundamental problem with this show is that the only thing the writers thought to put into it was a constant tension - the potential peril, will he get caught. It was running through nearly every episode and every season. Yet the only ways they could create that tension were either by Dexter making really stupid/careless mistakes or by some massive inconvenient coincidences. And for that tension to be maintained it had to be problems that Dexter can't easily solve - but it still does need resolution, and Dexter can't do anything really clever to solve his problems because if he was that clever there wouldn't be half of those problems in the first place. So again the writers have to end up relying on massive coincidences, deus ex machina, yet always leaving just enough of a hint of a problem unresolved to roll on to the next episode/series. At times it was just a bloody farce masquerading as drama. :axe: - Frustrating and disappointing to the end.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

Never watched a episode but guessed it was a spaghetti plot series since most of these high budget series are. Covering the endless cracks with special effects or character distractions. Seems the basic formula hasn't really changed since the seventies. Way to waste a hour if you are drunk but if sober why not think and goodnight?

Nothing I have ever seen compared to the farce that was the entire last series of Lost. The finale though... jesus. I have never been so disgusted by a conclusion to anything.
