From Lincolnshire in the UK, 32 years old and a voluntary worker for my local hospital radio station. I am the Head Librarian, Chief Music Purchaser and member of the management committee. I am a former Christian (Methodist) and have been an atheist for nearly eleven years. Before I was rudely booted, I was one of the three moderators responsible for welcoming new people to the Richard Dawkins Forum. I would be happy to reprise this role here.
Birdwatching is my main passion in life, and I am a member of several organisations connected with this. I'm in the RSPB, the British Trust for Ornithology, the World Owl Trust, the Neotropical Bird Club and Lincolnshire Bird Club. Every time a programme about birds is on TV, you can be guaranteed that I'll be there watching it! Never missed an episode of Springwatch or Autumnwatch, which has to be my favourite out of the lot. I love the sense of community that these shows bring (RDF take note!) and the interplay between the presenters, too. If I can be allowed one little character reference plug, it is this one written in September 2007 by Springwatch presenter Simon King that I'd use:
** blushes crimson, swoons, falls to floor and is revived by paramedics **You are a vibrant, fun girl, full of good ideas and I love your effusive enthusiasm
What else? Well, I have three hidden disabilities; Asperger's Syndrome, Dyspraxia and borderline numerical dyslexia (also called Dyscalculia). I regularly donate money to the Kirsty Howard appeal for Francis House Children's Hospice in Didsbury, southern Manchester. I've been following the story of this remarkable girl for nearly six years. she was given six weeks to live in 1999 but is still alive today.
Well, that's enough waffling for now, I might add some stuff to this in due course!
