The obligatory greeting post

Post by trdsf » Mon Mar 26, 2012 12:46 am

Hi! I'm here thanks to Bella Fortuna, who invited me to peek in here and I decided to hang out a bit.

I go by The Rev Dr Sherwood Forrester, which is a nickname that came out of MST3K fandom many moons ago. Most folks call me 'The Rev' or just 'Rev', and occasionally 'Sherwood'. I suppose my Universal Life Church ordination technically lapsed when I deconverted and became an atheist (I had previously been Pagan, and Catholic before that), but I like the idea of being an ordained atheist. :)

Lifelong Buckeye, Deadhead for most of that, lover of good puns (and even moreso of bad ones), photographer, gay (and 48, so in gay years I've been dead since 2002), liberal, foodie, golfer and golf fan, filker, bassist, thereminist, keyboardist, computer geek, and probably above all else a lover of science -- particularly physics, astronomy and cosmology. That's me in my avater with Phil, my bass. It's a ten year old picture. I still have the bass, I don't have the ponytail.

I'm sure there's more. Doubtless it'll come out in conversation.

Hi!

We don't cotton to photographers or intelligent folk around here.

Me, neither. :FBM:

Anyhoo, welcome. I think we may have another Deadhead hiding in a corner around here somewhere... :ask:

Welcome, Rev! :flowers:

Nice intro.
"The internet is made of people. People matter. This includes you. Stop trying to sell everything about yourself to everyone. Don’t just hammer away and repeat and talk at people—talk TO people. It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." - Maureen J

BTW, you likely will find this thread interesting: http://rationalia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=35653

There's a link to the old post-photos-you-have-taken thread in the opening post, too. Old, because we lock threads around 1000 posts here.

Enjoy!

Well, I hope you survived your first night here. The inmates members can be a bit rowdy when they smell fresh blood greet newcomers.
