thought i;d take a look after seeing this place referenced at TalkRational. Been an active member there since forever and still am, formerly hung out at IIDB.

I'm a hairy Brit now resident in Canada, father of 2, avid guitarist and general muso. Bit of a foody and love cooking. Play various sports, none of them especially well,
I'm a professional scientist, more specifically the manager of a core imaging facility specializing in flow cytometry and confocal microscopy amngst other things, bascially i get to fire losts of lasers at stuff and take some rather nice images.
We're based in the Cancer Biology and Genetics division of one of the "Ivy League" Canadian Universities.

Oh yeah, and i'm an atheist, (well duh) , and dig arguing. :)


I see a couple names i recognize from such circles but a lot i dont so so hi, nice to meet ya.

like the "post bollocks" button btw, i guess there are more than a couple of brits here. cool.

What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
