You should know this, you admin type. It's to cull the spammers who join up, put an ad in their sig, and post a few babble posts just to get the sig on display.Don't Panic wrote:No clue, let me check.Seth wrote:Thanks folks for the welcome, it be me. The real deal. Like it or not.

If you post a bit you get to choose a sig

Welcome, I don't have a clue who you are and I don't really care what your past is.

I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked

Re: Well, Seth!
Sorry about that. I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone. I'm not imposing anything on anyone, I'm just filling folks in on how I conduct myself, mostly by way of fair warning. I don't want anyone to be surprised. It may soon become evident why I felt it necessary to do this (and a review of the "Seth" thread and some of the comments made before I became a member ought to give you a clue), but if you have any questions, peruse over at the "other place" a bit, where things are hotting up already and I've only been off a six-month suspension for 24 hours. I fully expect to be banned permanently at any instant, because the Mods (well some of them) hate my guts and will look for any microscopic reason to boot me, and the trolling has begun, with 914 at the van, trying to get me to trip up so he can once again conspire in the background to get me booted.Azathoth wrote:I have never heard of him before but turning up with a WoT agenda of how things are going to be has instantly put my back uprachelbean wrote:I think (as someone with no prior memories of though the name as infamous in my brain...) it's best to let Seth start off fresh here without the need for a history lesson. He's a real person, so I don't know any reason we wouldn't give him that chance
It's like doing the tango with a serial killer over there. Miss a step and you're history.
So, you fine folks may end up with my undivided attention very soon. I wonder if there's a record for the shortest time for being re-booted from ratz? I suspect I'm a strong competitor for first place.

Re: Well, Seth!
Actually, we don't ban as a punitive measure. The philosophy is that accounts are suspended to give people a chance to cool off and consider things a while, maybe get out and look at birds and trees or something.Twoflower wrote:The good news for you is we don't perma ban people here!
I found this alarming at first. But in the context of Ratz culture, it works quite well I think, especially in conjunction with the Play Nice guideline.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
