The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

You should know this, you admin type. It's to cull the spammers who join up, put an ad in their sig, and post a few babble posts just to get the sig on display.

If you post a bit you get to choose a sig

You're right, I'd forgotten that, until you post once there is some stuff not available.

Well. I actually read it just after posting this. I'm very curious. I thought the language about expecting and demanding sounded a bit " :? " as people are all different, but the post in general made good sense to me
Thanks. It's pretty simple: If you expect courtesy from me, be prepared to offer the same courtesy in return. TANSTAAFL

You will have to fight coito for that.
Welcome, I don't have a clue who you are and I don't really care what your past is.
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

I have never heard of him before but turning up with a WoT agenda of how things are going to be has instantly put my back up :ddpan:
Sorry about that. I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone. I'm not imposing anything on anyone, I'm just filling folks in on how I conduct myself, mostly by way of fair warning. I don't want anyone to be surprised. It may soon become evident why I felt it necessary to do this (and a review of the "Seth" thread and some of the comments made before I became a member ought to give you a clue), but if you have any questions, peruse over at the "other place" a bit, where things are hotting up already and I've only been off a six-month suspension for 24 hours. I fully expect to be banned permanently at any instant, because the Mods (well some of them) hate my guts and will look for any microscopic reason to boot me, and the trolling has begun, with 914 at the van, trying to get me to trip up so he can once again conspire in the background to get me booted.

It's like doing the tango with a serial killer over there. Miss a step and you're history.

So, you fine folks may end up with my undivided attention very soon. I wonder if there's a record for the shortest time for being re-booted from ratz? I suspect I'm a strong competitor for first place.

Actually, we don't ban as a punitive measure. The philosophy is that accounts are suspended to give people a chance to cool off and consider things a while, maybe get out and look at birds and trees or something.

I found this alarming at first. But in the context of Ratz culture, it works quite well I think, especially in conjunction with the Play Nice guideline.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
-Mr P

The Net is best considered analogous to communication with disincarnate intelligences. As any neophyte would tell you. Do not invoke that which you have no facility to banish.
