Well there's that apostrophe that went missing from that other thread...

Whycome you don't use the fix fairy?
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Yeah, I noticed. Maybe Schneib really does find rules that require seeing his own posts from other people's POV difficult to understand / too "fuzzy"? It looked a bit like that both here and there...

Oh, and that^^ is no criticism of RatSkep or how the report about him was handled there, BTW - the rule you cited is clear enough and the reminder was very mild in wording IMO, quite fitting for a newbie.

Pity. He had his good moments.
If you could moderate as well as you patronise you'd be fucking amazing.

Oh, and well done the clique - you played a blinder!

Hi Dev! You seem to yet again know better than myself what I meant with what I wrote. Not entirely unlike Schneib...

As it happens, yes, I did.

And as it also happens I pointed out that in this instance he had clear grounds for his grievance, grounds which I laid out quite clearly in my first post in this thread. There was clear, indisputable evidence of inconsistent moderation within the thread in which Seth and Schneibster were arguing - Seth got a bye, while Schneibster was moderated.

Of course Schneibster's response here became increasingly shrill, but that was in no small part due to the fact that not only were his concerns being universally dismissed, but he was also mocked and derided disgracefully by people who had clearly not read the thread which led to the spat here - including so called moderators who had a duty to pick that thread apart and find out why Schneibster was so upset.
Oh why the hell should I even give a damn what you think of the modding here? You'd never be a mod because it would interfere with your beloved drama mongering.
I don't know what upsets me more about that - the fact that you might not give a damn what I think about your virtuoso modding, or the fact that I will never reach the dizzy and rarified heights of your glorious status here. Woe is me.

Except nether were reminded for personal attacks. Schneibster was reminded for quite a few posts that taken together were felt to be in breach of the play nice rule.

Indeed. Pappa you were genuinely one of the voices of reason in this thread.

How do you feel about what I said in my first post (link above) and how the subsequent moderation may have upset Schneibster?

And how do you feel about the general negative reaction by many members to Schneibster's concerns within this thread?

Is it possible to moderate one's way out of such a thread calmly while so much abuse is hurled at the person who has an issue?

See above for my remarks about your first post.

I'm not happy at all about the way people reacted to him in this thread. I suspect he's probably one of those people that would have acted the way he did anyway, but I think the response from us was terrible, far too emotive and very hostile.

But Dev could not be arsed to offer any of his insights in a constructive way earlier in the thread. Perhaps anther perspective would have helped things turn out differently, or at least staved off the inevitable for a few more days. Maybe he could have assisted Schniebster in clarifying his complaints, but that would have averted Dramaz, so he chose to fan the flames instead.

Sorry Dev, there are hundreds of people who I will listen to criticism of my conduct in this thread, but you're not one of them.
