The great thing is, we often do meet the other people. And when we do, those we've come to know by the honesty of their words seem like old friends. And those who've not yet met know similarly that they'll be in good company if the opportunity arises.fleamailman wrote: "...you see, the trouble in one's introduction is simply, if you don't meet the other person, there's absolutely no way to prove anything anyway since these are just words here, and the reader is blind,

Re: and with that the goblin appeared
("...ah no, we will never meet each other human..." replied the goblin, very much aware that the older one became the more it boiled down to some stark choice between an agelees faceless mecurial peter pan, or an aged seen set wendy, where the goblin choice had been made long ago now, confinding "...yes, I made that choice some years back now, ah but I was so much older then...")

Re: and with that the goblin appeared
the goblin welcomes the new member saying "...actually, it's all hush hush yet I feel I can trust you here, where this site is, in fact, just a front for the "homeland security service" and their operatives in their ongoing undercover work to root out the threat of cyber terrorism on the internet...", the goblin paused knowing that it was all too hard to comprehend in one go, but he continued "...simply think about it, which site would you least expect a cyber attack to originate from, that is between some ultra smart nerdy eastern block country, the taliban's site, the nigerian spamming site, well any of those types of sites on the one hand, and well, just somewhere like this site here then, where the members can, and do, manage to hit the post button correctly from time to time, so that's right then, the members here are really ultra sharp "homeland security" operatives only pretending to be otherwise, very snide of them I know but in fact they're probably the best america has..."

Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

You are right about that. Nobody would believe I'm a 121.92 meter fire-breathing mutant lizard-thingy until they've met me.fleamailman wrote:"...hi..." said the goblin, wondering if he'd even come to the right place is, his thoughts were more on the coffee machine at this point, but he just continued "...well there's not really much to say about me, married with kids I suppose, that's me then..." and then something crossed his mind "...you see, the trouble in one's introduction is simply, if you don't meet the other person, there's absolutely no way to prove anything anyway since these are just words here, and the reader is blind, I mean anyone of us could be just anything then, who knows I could even be a human for that matter MYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, no no just joking, thought it was funny though..."

(the goblin thanked the mutant thingy and the KGB agent for their posts, saying "...what one may look like on the outside may not be how one feels on the inside, I for example am more comfortable conversing with you as a persona than had you known who I am I suppose...")

"...a friend I am, yet I see you've been talking to goblins again, steady now, bad idea, they're not to be trusted you know, but, whereas in dailylife one has no choice about it, on forumland one has that choice, so for me, I'd like to grow something other than simply old..." replied the goblin, adding "...and since nothing here can be proved at all, what is the point, and where is the need, of one's dailylife mask now, one's mask by fate perhaps, but a mask all the same...", the goblin guessed that any self portrayal was unlikely to be as objectively honest as perhaps how others around him would see him, so that just saved the goblin from drawing the line about himself, by having no line at all, observing "...it's quite simple, an ageless faceless goblin on forumland, masks an old fart in his dailylife, who in turn masks an ageless faceless goblin within him too, so now, do you judge something by its appearance or by its contents where perhaps both are the two sides of the same coin here..."But my dear friend, isn't growing old growing at least?and with that the goblin showed, read through the posts and felt he was onto something, saying "...on forumland the choice is a simple one, that of either becoming an anonymous peter pan, or of being some known wendy, where wendy grows old that is..."

Hello.
I like it, interesting take, I'm wondering how quickly sustaining it will become tedious. Good luck.

Re: and with that the goblin appeared
We all take up personas on the forum or IRL, some of us just go farther than others. When I'm alone, just me and the voices, I'm rather different than when other people are around. Some of that is due to my childhood, when appearing to be happy or even not miserable was an invitation to violence. Some is just me letting parts of me show and other parts remain hidden. Trust me, I know what to let loose and what to rein in.

"...well, I've been writing in third for years now, so it's quite habitual to me and no strain at all..." replied the goblin, adding "...where I suspect too, that I move in and out of favour with most readers upon forumland, but my anonymity also has me asking myself what real difference does being liked or disliked make where it is from silence to silence here, like a short journey in posts then, well even if a high hitcount does indicate a flattering readership...", in fact, the goblin's motivation was feed to read each time, where a livewriter cared little for readership and cared much for rapportI like it, interesting take, I'm wondering how quickly sustaining it will become tedious.
