1) you CAN get HP sauce in Canada, at any supermarket in fact. They think its for steak as opposed to bacon sarnies but its available nevertheless. You can even get Marmite in the great white north these days. true story. They also have a HP bold which despite having a fucking COWBOY on the label, is pretty damn good.
2) cheese: now THAT is something that is lacking in N America as a whole of course. They have pretty shit cheese unless you are willing to get a second mortgage for 100g. My favourite is a lip curlingly mature cornish farmhouse cheddar, but i also dig caerphilly, wenslydale, a mature double gloucester and even on occasion a nice flavourful yet creamy Cheshire.
3) who do you hate more, cliff richard or simon cowell? Its a never-ending dilemma for me.

one of the latest things i put together was this 3d reconstruction from 100 or so confocal image slices. its a root section from a lilly of the valley (a stably stained demo slide i use for lectures etc)
as for bacon, i wasnt aware there was any controversy unless you're one of those strange veggie types. bacon is awesome, even chocolate covered bacon is awesome.
actually Canadian peameal bacon is DAMN good., You buy it in a loin type lump and cut slices to your own desired thickness (before adding lashings of HP of course)

yeah, they export the good stuff. Having bought many a pack of the canadian export cheddar at sainsburies etc, I came here with massively high expectations for lip curlingly sharp cheddar only to find that the norm is the plasticky shit like what the yanks eat,
that said, the Baldersons 6year is pretty good, but only as good as normal mature cheddar in the UK, and pretty bloody expensive. The normal supermarket "mature" is like tescos value super mild.
