Maybe some confusion between atheist and anti-theist ...often combined but not always.

The first ignores the JW doorbell
The second challenges them

No confusion, there is very good reason to be anti-religion.

There is no point in believing or not in a Deity.

You miss the point.
There are atheists and anti-theists.
They are not equivalent and exhibit different approaches to the god botherers.

There are also proselytizing atheists which I have no use for either.

Challenging the claims of JWs, or any other religious doctrine, is not the preserve of the anti-theist.

trying to show JW the error of their ways is an exercise in futility, they are so well brainwashed as to be impervious to facts, logic and reason

Umm, from earlier in the thread, you're an agnostic deist. You believe in a Deity.

It's actually quite simple. You don't need to know with 100% certainty that there is no god to be an atheist, you just have to live your life without any belief that there is one... :tea:

I might say there is a possibility some some Higher Powered Beings exist. That may not equate to a Deity.
Certainly they wouldn't be concerned if some creatures on some obscure planet believed in their existence, in my opinion.

That would be in Seine.

Seems to me that you're saying that challenging the doctrine of those who proselytise their religion door-to-door is something which distinguishes the atheist from the anti-theist - though I'm quite happy to accept that you may have just worded it badly. So, what are you on about? :tea:

If that were true people would never leave the religion - though I'll accept they're generally fundamentalist wingnuts of the highest order.

Maybe some get the conditioning worn through, but I never met a practicing one that would answer to cogent contradiction but with rote doctrine and bad faith arguments, and that includes my aunt.

That's because you're obviously an anti-theist. :D

obviously. Then again much as chretinity is a mountain of absurdities piled atop sheer cliffs of pure nonsense, JW doctrine is several quantum leap worse. They take chretinous doctrine as a base, and twist it in ways no half sane mind (and remember, I'm still talking of religious thinkers) could find acceptable, or for that matter, that no christian scholar could find serious justification for.
