So have we all. I decided not to off myself last night, though it was a rather close decision.

Are you serious? :/

It's the fucking arthritis pain in the wrists. Kept me up till after 4 PM. Sometimes the 9mm looks like a reasonable compromise. Can't get in to a fucking rheumatologist till mid May, because it's season and all the fucking Yankee old farts are clogging up the doctors offices, and Mrs. Lak's aunt is visiting so I can't smoke dope all night. I'll live. Unfortunately.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Dude. I'd marry you for Oxys.

In response to the "Opioid Epidemic", they can only write a three day prescription for opiates here. It's the stupidest fucking thing I've seen in a long time, and I've seen me some stupid fucking things in 64 years. Swaziland cant get here soon enough, with that lovely over the counter codeine.

It's going to go that way here soon. Always over-reaction. Some people get addicted, so the rest of us have to suffer.

Early to bed, early to rise? All very well, but 4PM is a bit extreme.

Anyway, weren't you warned about the hazards of wanking when you were a lad?

They only told me I'd go blind and grow hair on my palms. I'm OK with that, but Arthur Itis sucks. Funny thing is it's not that bad during the day, I can deal with it, but at night it starts throbbing and burning.

My wrists, I mean. Get yer mind out of the gutter.

It's a cunt of a disease(?). Is there much effective medicine for it? Do anti-inflammatories help?

They'll likely put me on a biologic, which are apparently miracle drugs. Of course you get cancer or TB or something in 10 years but fuck, I'll be 75 by the time it gets me. Gives me 10 years to work on my List of Motherfuckers To Take With Me and to stock up on ammo.

The history of miracles is of a logarithmic reduction in scale, over time.

The first was the big bang, creation of all the energy in the Universe in an instant.
That was impressive stuff. The next miracle was that god sat on his arse for about 14 BILLION years, just watching it drift lifelessly around.

Oh, but wait, it wasn't like that. It was like this :

1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4And God saw the light, and it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.

So that was a good start for miracles, but since then they've got less impressive.
There was the parting of the Red Sea for the Jews, that was pretty big, but it's still a long time back.
Jesus rising from the dead? Well, if you are God, that's not really big stuff.
It's him who decides if you ARE dead. So it's just a bit of insider trading.

As you get closer to today, the miracles tail off in scale. The Red Sea hasn't been parted ever since.
The nearest is the opposite, the Sea in Japan deciding to come ashore. But that's been explained as plate tectonics. God only does the nice ones.

It seem that today, the miracles are restricted to people getting better, when they were poorly, or bits of toast with unusual burn marks.
Maybe God is taking another 14 billion year rest from miracles ?? It must be tiring.

I always liked the Hindu Milk Miracle, if nothing else it made a nice counterpoint to the 'Got Milk?' ads that were popular at the time.

Honi the circle drawer.
Once they said to Honi the Circle-Drawer, "Pray that rain may fall."

He answered, "Go out and bring in the Passover ovens [made of clay] that they be not softened."

He prayed, but the rain did not fall. What did he do? He drew a circle and stood within it and said before God, "O Lord of the world, your children have turned their faces to me, for I am like a son of the house before you. I swear by your great name that I will not stir from here until you have pity on your children."

Rain began falling drop by drop. He said, "Not for such rain have I prayed, but for rain that will fill the cisterns, pits, and caverns."

It began to rain with violence. He said, "Not for such rain have I prayed, but for rain of goodwill, blessing, and graciousness."

Then it rained in moderation, until the Israelites had to go up from Jerusalem to the Temple Mount because of the rain. They went to him and said, "Just as you prayed for the rain to come, so pray that it may go away!"

He replied, "Go and see if the Stone of the Strayers has disappeared."

Simeon ben Shetah sent to him, saying, "Had you not been Honi I would have pronounced a ban against you! But what shall I do to you? You importune God and he performs your will, like a son that importunes his father he performs his will. Of you the Scripture says, 'Let your father and your mother be glad, and let her that bore you rejoice.' "
Mishnah Taanit 3:8
