If the Divine is so big picture, why does it give a shit about US politics?

Wasn't one of your arguments for God the vastness of the universe?

Multiverse. Theists are totally unable to get their tiny minds around this.

The multiverse idea may be based on existing science as a hypothesis, but that is all it is. In that respect it is perhaps only slightly more likely to be fact than a god that cares whether we snip the ends off baby’s penises, eat pork, or fuck in particular positions.

How would you calculate the odds of the hypothesis being true?

I don't see any way to do that. I'm not sure even the theoretical physicists involved could do that.

Personally, it seems to me rather more likely than a god making all this shit up and that's about as far as I go.

So, is it Christian Marxism you're into, or Marxist Christianity?

In case that question was prompted by the above Youtube clip, let me give you a 30 second rundown of what Herbert Marcuse was about. He did not believe in a central tenet of Marxism, namely the revolution of the working class. In fact he did not think a revolution would happen. Change, he thought would be brought about by Critical Theory, a self-conscious social critique that is aimed at change and emancipation through enlightenment. In the sixties he thought the hippies were going to lead that change. In other words, He never was a Marxist.

Together with his colleagues, the better known of which were Max Horkheimer, Jürgen Habermas, Theodor Adorno and Erich Fromm, they constituted the 'Frankfurt School of social theory and philosophy', best described as a group of academic armchair lefties.

You need to have a long conversation with Galaxian.

It would be enlightening for you both, I'm sure... :tea:

According to the supposedly atheists & agnostics on this and similar forums, such as RatSkep, one definite scientific proof of God happened on 11 September 2001, when 2 airliners rammed the top quarter of WTC 1 & 2, and brought down 3 buildings (1, 2 & 7) at freefall speed directly onto their own footprint. That is: NO resistance from lower structures, & perfectly symmetrical & simultaneous action across 100m. Now, THAT is a miracle!

Hallelujah! There you have a rock-solid miracle. The Laws of Physics were on vacation on that day. Amen, brother JimC. When you don't have the Laws of Physics, you have a Miracle. When you have a miracle, you have proof of God... or maybe Satan... Much the same, just a different point of view... eh? :lynchmob:
