Stoic Week 2015

Post by DRSB » Thu Oct 29, 2015 11:11 am

I took part twice, the fourth run is coming up next week, the "Live like a Stoic for a Week"-event of the University of Exeter:

Hi! I've been changing careers, still settling in the new one but at least I exited the awful banking.

Stoicism is the most atheistic philosophy.

Perhaps. Still seems to have a little too much metaphysical baggage for my taste. I would be interested in how it looks with its ideas about the nature of reality brought up to date.

Best of luck in your new career.

Stoic week, eh? Guess I'll just have to put up with it.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Yes, if it is outside your control, it is indifferent to you. Focus on what's under your control and this is, among other things, being a wise and virtuous man (or a woman for that matter, the Sotics were very pro in matters of women's education). It's only for a week, so no harm in being wise and virtuous for a week!

Nice to see old names and faces!

..as we all get older and have no choice but to be stoical about it.. though I suppose one could try panic as an alternative.

Wise and virtuous for a whole week? I can barely make it last till noon, and I don't get up till 9.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I'd certainly give being a stoic for a week if I wasn't tied to the back of this cart.

Going by your past posts you never seemed suitable for a career in banking. How did you get into that branch in the first place, and what are you doing now for a living?

What about guarding the Poop? The current turd is a bit of a progressive. He might not object to women dressing up in 18th century clown suits. No problem, as long as they don't start demanding to become priests. Or lesbians.
