Me an ma dune nuthin wrong.

Buddhist teaching has the equivalent of the Christian command "Thou shalt not kill", but just like among Christians, Buddhists have a way around that. Japanese Buddhists participated in the second world war with enthusiasm. The rationale was that killing is allowed in order to prevent greater numbers of killings in the future. And of course, as in all other religions, there have been violent conflicts resulting in significant numbers of deaths between sects inside Buddhism. I think, overall Buddhists are no different to other humans. They just have better public image machinery.

Put them in that little bin where we keep the Sri Lankan massacres. Nobody looks in there.

The connection to Buddhism here may be a little strained - Shinto was a fairly dominant religion in the military...

I think the real point is whether there has been significant war-like activity stimulated by, or approved by, a given religion. This is (or has been) certainly true of Shinto, Christianity, Islam and others, but probably not from Buddhism. Individual buddhists have obviously engaged in violence, and the Japanese strain of buddhism was probably more accommodating of such activities during and before WW2 than other branches.
