Leaving Fundamentalism, a blog by Jonny
Leaving Fundamentalism is a blog by an acquaintance (and it must be said - amazing musician!).
Jonny is beginning on his own personal journey away from the fundi upbringing he had. He has had the 'benefit' of Accelerated Christian Education
I suggest starting at the earliest post. I've pointed him over here and he has expressed interest in the forum but of course doesn't just want to seem to be spamming his blog.
Here it is.

Interesting viewpoint to me, as fundys are pretty rare in the UK compared to over here so they always seem very out of place over there, in my mind.
I wish him luck in making peace with his past and forging a new way ahead - I hope you convince him to join!

I can only read so many of these, same story every time.
Though I read an entire book a year ago by a former evangelical. The world was going to end "any day" so they were real singing news of joy. He still collects money on kids xtian songs he wrote!

The blog post about ACE was frankly nauseating. Important stuff, thanks for posting!
"The internet is made of people. People matter. This includes you. Stop trying to sell everything about yourself to everyone. Don’t just hammer away and repeat and talk at people—talk TO people. It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." - Maureen J

As for the moderate christians, as long as they vote for republicans, I don't want anything to do with them either.

As for the OP, off to read the blog...

Well, shit. If there's going to be a test like this at the end of each page, I'm giving up already

Hello everyone,
I am the Jonny whose blog fretmeister has kindly shared. This seems as good a place as any to introduce myself.
Well, if you've seen my blog you know some of my story. Hi, it's nice to meet you all. I'm looking forward to getting to know you. I don't know how much time I'll have to post, but I'll try to make it regular. If any of you have experiences similar to mine, I'd be especially interested in talking to you.

Re: Leaving Fundamentalism, a blog by Jonny
Hiya, Jonny! Glad you joined up. We do have a couple of people who escaped fundamentalism in one way or another. If they don't find you and this thread first, I'll point them in this direction.
I had a few brushes with fundamentalism when I was young, but the people in those places at those times were neither smart nor organized enough to do a thorough job of it. I got rid of theism altogether while I was taking a class, The History of the Bible, in university. I was studying to go to Episcopal seminary, no less. But one evening on my way back to the dorm from that class, it dawned on me: that stuff was made up by people to control the gullible majority.
Anyway, glad to meet you.
