Reincarnation and Deep Time?

If you wait long enough after death will the experience of the qualia, the conscious perceptions, you experience in your waking hours return in some fashion? I'm talking so long it hurts the imagination and a bit longer. :naughty:

If you come back as something else then you won't be you. You'll be something else.

You experience the qualia uniquely yourself and they are subjective to you alone. Software can be substrate independant, so can your actual - at this moment - experience of conscious self-awareness be in some way is what I'm asking roughly? You are not the thing you were seven years ago. Now track forwards a trillion trillion years? :smoke:

My atoms will be part of other things, maybe. Once the brain is gone ,the thing called consciousness which is created by the brain, will be gone too. IMO.

I'm not so sure. The me of yesterday is gone forever and yet here I am today. What happened in between? Nothing much really according to my limited senses but on a universal scale a awful lot. :smoke:

I see no reason to believe it, so no.
these are things we think we know
these are feelings we might even share
these are thoughts we hide from ourselves
these are secrets we cannot lay bare.

Belief is a opinion that excuses not thinking but what I'm asking requires some thought and does not represent a opinion. :smoke:

Given an infinite universe, there must be another CES out there having just the same thought our CES is having now. God helps us.

I've given this thought, and I see no reason to believe it. You have my answer, make of it what you will.

Also, lol @ "not asking for an opinion." If you're wanting reports based on experience, go to a cemetery and ask the dead. I'm sure they'll happily oblige you.

I'm ambivalent about qualia as anything more than a metaphor, but no I don't think recurrence is very likely and the chances of it being likely are decreased further by that of recognition and memory. Too many variables.

Except the thing that creates the thing you call consciousness is still around -- your brain is continuing to function. So, that gives you the perception of continuity of existence. Destroy your brain and the consciousness is gone, as is the perception of continuity of existence.

It's even worse for you than that, my dear boy. Given an infinite universe, there must be an infinite number of CESes out there.

You would think that, but I've counted, there is only five of you.
