I don't know why it never occurred to me to ask before but where does this whole 'baby eating ' thing come from?

Pure propaganda - some of my best friends are atheists, and only a few of them eat babies.

It seems that many feared minority groups throughout history have been accused of eating or sacrificing babies and/or their blood. The Jews were in the Middle Ages prior top the regular hysterical culls they suffered and gypsies were as recently as a generation or two ago. I guess it is one of the worst things you could say about a human being to make them seem really alien.
