The Very First Atheist Discussion On The Web?

Post by Atheist-Lite » Fri Oct 21, 2011 7:52 pm

What was it? The very first atheist discussion on the web? Before the web had forums or anything like what it is now, going back into the dark ages? :smoke:

Taylor: I have created a universe unto itself. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod. The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God!

Sutherland: There is no God, lidlicker.

Licklider: Fuck you guys.

The www or the Internet?
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

The Net is best considered analogous to communication with disincarnate intelligences. As any neophyte would tell you. Do not invoke that which you have no facility to banish.

I bet it is in an old IRC log on a 5.26 inch floppy sitting in an attic somewhere.
